WORLD CHEESE AWARDS 2009 - GRAN CANARIA
The World Cheese Awards decided to hold their magnificent three day festival in warmer climates this year, taking over 2000 entrees abroad to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
This was just the second time in 21 years that the awards have ventured further than the British Isles, attracting attention from over 30 different countries.
Long Clawson Dairy were one of the many familiar and favourite companies to enter this year, giving a strong performance alongside foreign competition.
Thomas Hoe Stevenson Aged Leicestershire Red proved a winner once more, the aged cloth-bound cheese was awarded Gold by an panel of expert judges.
A spokesperson recently commented:
" How pleasing it is to see the hard work and dedication of the staff being rewarded with such high recognition".
